Standard container 20′ / 40′

General purpose containers, also referred to as standard containers, are container types that are closed on all sides and used for the transport of general cargo of all types.

Depending on the container construction, the doors are fitted on the face side or the long side. The frame and floor cross members are constructed with steel profiles. Steel or aluminium sheet is used for the walls.

Most 20′ containers are fitted with forklift pockets, which enable the handling of empty containers by means of forklift trucks.

Standard containers are mainly manufactured as 20′ (= 6.058 m) or 40′ (= 12.129 m) containers and have a height of 8.6′ (= 2.59 m).
